Possible Ex-Works Racer: 1961 TVR Grantura Mk2

1961 TVR Mk2 Ex Works RF Track

This TVR Grantura may be 1 of 4 Ex-Works or Ex-Factory Lightweight TVR race cars from the early 60’s. Grantura’s were the first TVR cars, the Series II was upgraded with a choice of 4 cylinder engines and standard disc brakes. If this history can be proven, which seems potentially possible, we think this TVR could be worth more than the roughly $56,000 asking price, plus shipping from the UK and refurbishment. …Read More »

RM Auction Block: 1995 Ford GT90 Concept Car

Ford GT90 Concept Car-5

January 24, 2009: We’re back from a great weekend in Scottsdale where we enjoyed watching the action at Barrett Jackson, RM Auctions and Gooding & Co. We were very disappointed at RM when they announced the GT90 had been pulled from the event. We were looking forward to seeing the car and watching the bidding. If we find out any more info, we’ll post it here.

December 22, 2009: On Friday, January 22, 2010 RM Auctions will auction off a truly unique Ford. The 1995 Ford GT90 was unveiled in January 1995 at the Detroit Auto Show as a successor to the legendary GT40 which Ford, with help from guys like Carroll Shelby, employed to beat Ferrari at Le Mans throughout the second half of the 1960’s. The auction house claims $3million dollars was spent in developing the carbon fiber panel, honeycomb aluminum chassis, 720hp quad-turbo V12 supercar. While RM Auctions is not currently providing any estimates, we doubt it will be bid up nearly that high. In the meantime, do any readers have estimates of their own? …Read More »

Ready For Any Event: 1999 Porsche 996 GT3 Cup with GT3R Kit

Porsche 996 GT3 Cup GT3R RF

Porsche 911’s in just about any varietal, have been good on the track. They’re without a doubt the winning-est model ever made, which is why if you’re looking to get a track car, you should look at a 911. This particular version was built from a 1999 GT3 Cup car, which is nice, because it’s come from the factory as a race car. For the most part, t’s got all the GT3R add-ons. This is a car that cost over $100,000 new and we’re sure the owner has put at least 50% more into making it as it appears here, he’s asking $60,000. …Read More »

2003 Riley and Scott MKIIIC Chassis # 005 LF

December 20, 2009: Interestingly, the seller updated the ad with a new price of $324,900. He claims all the spare parts have been lost in a fire which occurred on 12/19; we’re glad the car is unharmed. We’ve updated the links and description.

December 16, 2009: We’ve always loved anything Riley & Scott so when this MkIIIC just came up for sale, of course we had to post it. The MkIIIC is the last iteration of this chassis, there’s great info if you want to read more here and here. If the articles don’t convince you to pony up $325K, maybe this in-car clip will, after the jump. …Read More »

Great Color and Stripe Delete: Midnight Blue 2005 Ford GT – 3,100 miles

Ford GT Blue No Stripe LS

Ford GT’s are really bad@ss sports cars. We’ve loved them since before Ford officially launched the GT, especially given it’s pedigree. One thing that’s annoyed us however, is the fact that so many of the GT’s came from the factory with ’stripes.’ Historically, few original GT40’s where red/white, grey/grey or white/blue, but it seems like all the new GT’s are one of these combos. This particular car is Midnight Blue with the “stripe delete” option, a combo that makes it pretty rare. Given the color, and the fact that it has only 3,100 miles, this car is priced very fairly at $149,000. Don’t miss the video on the next page for more enticement. …Read More »

Daytona 24hr Winner and Le Mans History: 1990 Porsche 964 Carrera Cup

1990 Carrera Cup Daytona Winner LR

We know what you’re thinking, this 911 doesn’t look like anything too great. You’re right, cosmetically it’s not perfect, however it’s got a really cool history. It started off as a Carrera Cup car, of which we understand Porsche only built 25. It was then commissioned to race in the 1993 Daytona 24 hours, driven by Enzo Calderari to a class win. Then it was driven by Lilian Bryner at places like the 24 hours of Le Mans, Spa and Sebring. All of this history, for $39,000. …Read More »

1 of 8: 2003 Panoz Esperante GT-LM ALMS Race Car

LF

Here’s another car that’s ready for the track. It’d be at home at HPDE’s, SCCA race weekends or, given the current rules, HSR/SVRA historic races; plus the Shelby club would happily accept it because the power plant is from Ford. If you don’t know much about Panoz, check out their site, here to learn what you’ve missed. Panoz Auto Development was founded by Dan Panoz, son of Don Panoz, who very conveniently owns Mosport, Road Atlanta, and Sebring International Raceway as well as American LeMans and IMSA. This is a car built by a group with some serious cache, that ran the ALMS series in 2003, and can now be purchased for $99,000. …Read More »

Lively Lotus: 2-Eleven GT4 Supersport

LF
Looking to get into professional racing? Or just dream of running local track days in an open cockpit racer, banging off shifts with your fully sequential dog box, pretending you’re Tom Kristensen in an Audi R10 at Le Mans? Either way, it sounds like this Lotus 2-Eleven GT4 is what you need. This car is a more racey version of the already race-able Lotus 2-Eleven and is basically ready for whatever you throw at it. …Read More »

Le Mans Lineage: 2005 Ford GT

FGTLeft
Unless you’ve been on another planet for the past decade, you already know the facts about this car. Styled after the Le Mans winning GT40’s of the sixties, 2005-2006 Ford GT’s have 500hp/500ft lbs supercharged V8 and 6 speeds of mind numbing acceleration. None have traction control, no stability management and in fact there are no real electronic aids what-so-ever. Some things we know: many were crashed with only delivery miles, more have been wrecked since, Ford offered 4 options, most GT’s had stripes.

While Ford made more than a few GT’s, we like this car because it is a bit unique. It seems to be a stripe-delete car, so it has no hood or side stripes. Most cars had both stripes, if not then they usually had one or the other. The lack of stripes gives this particular car a clean look that we love. Additionally, the owner claims this is a one owner car with a clean title and no stories, plus it’s gone less than 4K miles. …Read More »
