A while back, a company was offering a “Drive an F1 Car” experience at Las Vegas Speedway but now they’re long gone. They were the only place in the U.S. to offer such an experience but it looks like the car they were using may have ended up in the hands of a group who is doing something similar, this time a Miami’s Homestead Speedway. Good news for those of us who want to drive an F1 car but don’t want to go all the way to Europe to do it. …Read More »

Race Cars, Williams

We’ve noticed another historic Formula 1 car recently popped up for sale. This former Keke Rosberg/Jacques Laffite Williams FW08C just came for sale yesterday, with the seller asking $425,000. Quite a lot of money, but do not forget, Keke Rosberg was the F1 World Champion in 1982, the year before he piloted this car. Additionally, while the FW08C chassis wasn’t dominate in ‘83, it did give Williams a noteworthy win on the streets of Monaco; this car ran as high as second in that race before retiring. …Read More »

Benetton, Race Cars

This Benetton F1 car has garnered a lot of press lately. We had to feature it here, not because you won’t see it elsewhere (you will) but because of our admiration for Michael Schumacher, his 7 Formula One World Championships, and our appreciation for the 1994 F1 season. This is the car Schummi won the 1994 Championship in, it was his first world title and helped propel him to worldwide super-stardom. Given the history, we can see why it’s bid up to $4,000,000 on EBay. …Read More »

We normally don’t prefer Silver and rarely on a Ferrari, but this 2002 575M really does it for us. Likely due to the lowered stance and enormous Novitec Rosso wheels and tinted windows which accent the Silver color really well. This 2002 is ending soon on EBay with a Buy-It-Now price of $125,000 so make sure to check it out before the auction ends. …Read More »

Porsche, Road Cars

October 2, 2009: After the reserve was not met at $210,100.00, the owner has reposted this 959S on EBay with a Buy-It-Now price of $395,000. We’ve also recently noticed the car for sale on Hemmings, for the same price.
September 24, 2009: The Porsche 959 is often attributed to starting the “supercar” craze of the late 80’s and 90’s, which gave birth to cars such as the Ferrari F40, Bugatti EB110, Jaguar XJ220 and later, the mighty McLaren F1. The 959 was originally built to enter the infamous FIA “Group B” rally series but the class that was home to the fastest, most powerful and sophisticated rally cars ever built was banned due to high level of danger for drivers and spectators; most cars never ran. Porsche took the same rally racing technology and used it in their road going version, the 959 you see here. Check the video after the jump to see what we’re talking about.

BMW, Race Cars

Update September 30, 2009: The BMW GTP car is back on EBay after not previously selling. We’ve updated pricing and links.
Update September 18, 2009: The BMW GTP racecar did not meet reserve at $198,100 with 5 bids.
September 16, 2009: Here’s a great opportunity to own a small piece of BMW racing history. This was the back-up/test car for BMW’s racing efforts in the IMSA GTP series in the 1980’s. For those of you unfamiliar with the GTP series, it’s still hailed as the some of the most exciting days in Sports Car racing’s history. Wikipedia has a decent article here which gives details about the rise and fall of the IMSA series. These were the days when manufacturing efforts from Porsche, Toyota, Nissan, March, Chevrolet, Ford, Jaguar, Mazda, Tiga, Kudzu, Spice, Argo and Intrepid all came together each weekend for races up to 24 hours long. …Read More »

Ferrari, Race Cars

Chalk one more up on the “Want It” board. This is the Ex-Alain Prost F1 car that acted as back-up for the 1991 season. While ‘91 wasn’t a stellar season for Prost (the late, great Ayrton Senna dominated that year), he did receive 5 podium finishes. The seller claims this particular car was run at Monaco that season where the record books show Prost set fastest lap of the race and finished 5th. Not too shabby… …Read More »
