This 1957 AC Aceca is a find that’s met us with mixed emotions. It was for sale (from what we recall, 6-7 years ago) for $44,000 here, but we missed it then! We’ve often looked for this exact car to come back on the market and now it has, but the values of Aceca’s have climbed, now the seller is asking $119,000. We think it’s fairly priced, just a bit hard for us to pull the trigger right now. …Read More »

If you’re not familar with the 2000 Mustang Cobra R, it’s probably because they only built 300 of them. We featured one a while back, which sold in a matter of days, you can check it out here with 8k miles. This one has 24k, but it’s also much cheaper, with an asking price of just about $30,000, making this the cheapest 2000 R we’ve seen.

AC, Kirkham, Road Cars

Kirkham Motorsports makes some of the best Shelby Cobra reproductions in the world. If you’ve never heard of them, AutoWeek did a great article on Kirkham in 1996. Two brothers, David and Thomas Kirkham started the company, building aluminum bodies to exacting duplication out of an old MiG factory in Poland. The story is worth a look even if you’ve already read it; to give you an idea of how intelligent, thorough and methodical the Kirkham’s are, David learned to speak Polish simply because he wanted to be able to speak directly to his workmen. In other words, you’re guaranteed to get some value for the roughly $77,000 this car will cost you. …Read More »

October 13, 2009: Well, that was fast! EBay shows the Cobra R sold last night for the “Buy It Now” price of $37,900. Looks like there are still people buying cars out there…
October 11, 2009: If you’re looking for a “future collectible” or a car you can hold on to for a long time, drive, enjoy and not worry about, a 2000 Cobra R is probably a solid bet. We’ve thought these cars were cool since they debuted in 2000 and with only 300 in existence, they have a rarity factor regardless. The Ford Mustang is an American icon and there is no doubt they’ve proved themselves as worthy sports cars and the 2000 Cobra R is no different. It’s actually a more race-oriented, lighter, more powerful version of the typical Cobra and for only $35,000 we’d much rather have one of these versus a newer Shelby GT500, Saleen or SMS. …Read More »

Factory Five, Road Cars

With only 6 Shelby Daytona Coupes ever built and prices approaching 8 digits it’s not likely we’ll be seeing one in our near future. But, for a similar driving experience, the guys at Factory Five Racing have developed the “Type 65.” If you don’t know FFR, they’re the ones who revolutionized the kit-car market a few years back by offering ready-to-go kits that allow hobbyists to get parts from a “donor” car and build their dream car. This Daytona isn’t one of the donor builds, rather a brand new build in 2004 and now on sale for a reasonable $29,000. …Read More »

We recently posted a 1966 Shelby G.T.350 “Tribute” that was a very nice car and sold rather quickly. This is the car that “Tribute” was based on, a real ‘66 Shelby. These cars were built by Carroll Shelby to compete with the Europeans, both on and off the track; if you don’t believe that was the focus, just check out the “Eat Spaghetti” ad from 1966. This particular car is currently on EBay, bid to $68,850 with Reserve not met. …Read More »

We’re not sure but we think the term “Arrest-Me Red” came about specifically for this car. Nothing screams speed like a Cobra: real, fake, continuation, or otherwise. The AutoKraft Cobra, to many is the first real “continuation” Cobra, originally filling a space that has now been over taken by the Shelby CSX4000, 6000, 7000 and 800 series Cobras. When they were originally built, starting in the early 80’s, the AC AutoKraft Cobra was built at the AC factory using the same molds and jigs as the original cars. This car is aluminum, like the originals and AutoKraft Cobra’s are recognized in the Shelby American Registry. …Read More »

Race Cars, Shelby
After spending this weekend at the Monterey Historics we had to post this Shelby. Watching these
cars dice it up with the GT350’s, R-Model’s and Corvette’s was a real treat, besides, any Cobra holds a special place for us. We’d like to see this one get back on the track with some of its well run siblings.
CSX2557 was run in the 1964 Bridgehampton 500km by Charlie Hayes but DNF. Other than that, we can’t seem to find much history on the car. Regardless, the car looks to be in great shape with one of the cleanest engine compartments we’ve seen on a racecar. We especially like weber setup twin side-pipes à la the Daytona Coupe. …Read More »
