Sebring 12Hr Winner: 1989 Kudzu DG2.02 IMSA GTP Light

1990 Buick Kudzu 12 Hr Sebring F

August 09, 2010: This Sebring winning Kudzu is up for sale again on EBay, this time with the starting bid at $155,000. Coincidentally this car is for sale by the same seller as the Salt Racer we wrote about below. Wonder if he’s ready to make a deal on either of these great automobiles.

May 12, 2010: The Downing Kudzu has been relisted once more on EBay from the same seller. Starting bid has been reduced from $155,000 to $100,000 which means the seller probably wants to see if it will get bid up even a bit, at that price. This car not selling is probably a sign of the economy; it’s a unique car with great history but it’s not quite as desirable as the big GTP cars it’s also still a bit too new for some of the historic events, like Monterey. Still, we’d gladly call it ours, given the right opportunity.

February 7, 2010: This Kudzu has been relisted on EBay starting at $155,000 with no reserve. We thought it was priced on the high side previously and the seller must have agreed. Still love the original paint from when it ran professionally.

January 6, 2010: Obviously we’re big sports car fans and like many others, we enjoying seeing just about anything from the IMSA GTP days. This 1990 Kudzu-Buick IMSA GTP Lights contendor has been advertised on and off for some time and we’ve always found it interesting. It recently popped back up and EBay so we’re wondering if the seller is willing to accept less than his (already reduced) asking price of $189,995. Bidding starts at $75,000 with Reserve Not Met. Built for La Carrera Panamericana: 1930 Ford Model A

We’ve noticed this hotrod turned La Carrera Panamericana racer recently available. A lot of La Carrera cars are pretty cool but this one is really unique. Rarely do you see open top/open fender set ups in the race, it’s pretty cool to see something different and we’re sure the folks in Mexico would love it. You’d be an instant hit; this one is on Ebay with bidding starting at $90,000. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Prepared for Adventure: 1970 Porsche 914 Rally Tribute

Porsche 914′s seem to be favorite among many people, especially those who want to modify a Porsche to their own specification. Some cars are still almost 100% original while others, seem to almost have more modifications than imaginable. This one is on the “heavily modded” end of the spectrum, a great car for Vintage or TSD Rallies, everything has been done to a high standard. All of the work comes at a price, however: $55,000. 1 of 107: 1993 Ford Mustang Cobra R

This is perhaps the most rare late-model Ford Mustang one can buy, especially in terms of one with a FoMoCo VIN. The ’93 R’s were the first of the Cobra R series (’93, ’95, ’00) and they were some of the last “Fox body” Mustang’s to roll of the assembly line. With the down-turn in the economy these cars have been hit pretty hard, this one can be had for $45,000. [Read the rest of this entry...]

SCCA/NASA Road Race Car: 1991 Mercedes-Benz 190E

If you want to show up at SCCA/NASA racing events looking like you’ve got an early 90′s DTM car, this is one way to do it on a budget. Love the clean, slammed look of this one, our bet is it goes pretty well too. We’d happily be the only guys sporting a Benz, especially given the reasonable price tag of $8,000. Reasonable Project Car: 1956 Chevrolet Corvette

Wish we had some better pics of this one, but we don’t as these are all we were able to get. This project is a bit adventurous for us but we think that with a little bit of bargaining and a lot of hard work, this could be a really rewarding project. Find it on craigslist in in Topeka, Kansas for $26,500. Special thanks to TSOL reader Mr. Ludwig for this submission! [Read the rest of this entry...]

Lil Rally Racer: 1973 Fiat 124 CC Coupe

For some reason this ’73 Fiat really appeals to us. Perhaps it’s the slightly altered low and clean stance or the roll bar set up and rally lights but something about this one just seems to be interesting, especially for the entry price of $7,500. [Read the rest of this entry...]

International Race of Champions Race Car: 1974 Chevrolet Camaro IROC

The IROC Series went out of business a few years back but when it was started, well-known racers from all forms of Motorsport would come to compete against each other. The series started with Porsche’s and quickly moved to Camaro’s; this #6 was raced by David Pearson and tested by Cale Yarborough and Roger Penske himself. Neat piece of history really, currently on EBay with bidding only in the thousands of dollars, of course Reserve Not Met. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Rodriguez/Gurney Race History: 1963 Genie Mk. 8 Chassis 03

Not many can say their car has been driven by both Pedro Rodriguez and Dan Gurney in the same year; this Genie Mk 8 has been! It was raced in the sixties in USRRC and SCCA, claiming a National Championship in ’64. It’s not the most stylish of the USRRC cars but it’s had a great restoration and comes with some spares and a long line of history. We think this will be looked at as a fanastic deal in 3-5 years, asking price is $215,000. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Why Build When You Can Buy? : 1965 Shelby Cobra 289 FIA by Kirkham

If you’re going to build a Cobra replica to drive, we’d recommend looking at this one instead! 289 Kirkham’s actually cost more to build than the 427′s because they don’t make as many, this particular car is one of the Kirkham “hybrids” in that it has the 289 FIA body mounted on the 427 big-block “coil-over” frame. We think to build one like this would cost well over 6 figures but with 8,500 miles you can have this 289 FIA for $74,995. [Read the rest of this entry...]
