Cherry Early Bimmer: 1972 BMW 2002tii

1972 BMW 2002TII RF

Yes, it’s ‘bimmer’ and not ‘beemer’ or ‘beamer.’ We don’t know why, all we know is that this 2002tii is really sweet looking. Plus, this is really the car that change the perception of BMW’s after WWII; it really formed a foundation for the car company we know today. A lot of history and a fantastic color combo for $29,500. …Read More »

Road Race Converted: 1988 BMW E30 M3 Race Car SCCA or NASA

1988 BMW M3 Racecar LF

We’ve featured a few E30 M3’s on the site before, mostly low mile garage queens. This E30 is much different in that it’s fully stripped, caged and ready to hit the track. It’s currently on EBay bid up to $16,100 with 5 bids. The seller has a reserve of $25,000 (which he claims is less than the cost of the motor) and is open to offers. …Read More »

Little Bit of Germany: 1974 BMW 2002 Turbo with 58K Miles

1974 BMW 2002 turbo RHS

Here’s a chance to own a very cool early BMW Turbo car. BMW only made about 1600 2002 Turbo’s and the seller claims this one is very original, with 58K miles. He is asking $55,000 which seems like a lot in this market. However, this looks to be one of the nicest 2002 Turbo’s we’ve seen for sale, so if you’re in the market you may have to pay up. Even halfway decent cars seem to fetch in the mid to upper $30,000 range with ease, so we could see this really nice example being worth towards $50,000. …Read More »

Old School Daily Driver: 1985 BMW 635CSI with 79K miles

1985 BMW 635CSI

A little more mild than our normal taste is this 1985 BMW 635CSI. It’s a Euro conversion, done by Hardy and Beck in San Francisco; seeing as it’s still a CA car it probably has another 30-40hp to be gained by taking off the CA SMOG parts and converting back to Euro-spec. This car was a $55,000 in 1985! Older BMW’s, when kept-up hold value well, this seller is asking $16,900. …Read More »

Affordable Driver: 1988 BMW E30 M3

1988 BMW M3 White LFS

This ‘88 M3 could be great fun as a unique daily driver, for a reasonable price. It’s got a bunch of recent work done on it and has some really nice features. The miles are on the higher side, at 157k but these cars routinely go for 200K plus, so this one should have a lot of life left in it. The seller claims its a clean title with all original panels and is asking $12,000. Given our experiences, we believe it can be had for much less. …Read More »

Purpose Built: 1992 BMW E36 325is Touring Car

BMW LF

December 2, 2009: Big price drop from $14,995 to $11,000 on this track car. We assumed the seller would be negotiable before but this is more than we assumed he’d be willing to lower it. Still a great way to get into BMWCCA events or simply learn how to drive a moderately power F/R layout on the track. We’ve updated pics and links.

November 3, 2009: Here’s another way to get to the track and keep it within budget. This E36 Touring car sedan has some upgraded parts to make it perform at the track but it also keeps a relatively stock engine and transmission for easy access to parts and service. This is a car you could take to the track unassisted and run by yourself, there’s something to be said for that ease. This 325 is priced reasonably at $11,000, we’re sure much more has been put into it over the years especially considering things like new paint, brakes and other things to get it looking race-ready again. …Read More »

Ending Soon – No Reserve: 1988 BMW E30 M3 with S50 Engine Swap

E30 M3 S50 Swap LFS

Act now, because this ‘88 E30 M3 with ‘95 E36 Motor/Trans swap is ending in 30 hours on EBay. It’s offered without Reserve, in Philadelphia, PA where bidding is currently at $12,900. …Read More »

Low Mile Stocker: 1995 Bmw E36 M3 with 44,000 miles

1995 M3 44k LF

This BMW M3 is pretty straight forward. It’s an all-stock 1995 model year with very low mileage, just 44k, which equates to just over 3k miles a year. We’ve featured it here on TSOL because low-mileage M3’s are hard to find, especially at a reasonable price. The seller is asking $13,000 for this car but we think it can be had for less. …Read More »

BMW Motorsports Build: 1987 BMW E30 325is “Warsteiner” Race Car

LS

November 18, 2009: This ///M striped BMW is back up on EBay under the same seller. He’s reduced the Buy It Now from $21,495 to $19,495; we still think the car is great if the history can be proven. We’ve updated the links and pricing.

October 13, 2009: Here’s an unusual one for you BMW guys. The seller claims this is one of two cars professionally built by BMW Motorsport N.A. for the 1987-1988 IMSA International Sedan Series. Assuming that’s the case, this isn’t just any 325is but a factory-backed production based race car. This car is painted the right colors, white with tricolor “M” stripes and the sponsorship by Warsteiner makes sense, as they were big sponsors of BMW around this time, especially of the E30 M3’s running the DTM class in Europe. That said, it’s very easy to paint a car up in this fashion, so we’d like to see some more paperwork. If the seller can prove it’s provenance, which it sounds like he can, this car could be a solid deal at $19,495. …Read More »

Dinan Tuned: 2000 BMW S2 M5

LF

If you think the E60 (current generation) M5 is too big but the E39 (last generation) doesn’t have enough juice, this Dinan S2 M5 might be your perfect solution. With 471hp, a real 6 speed and 0-60 times of 4 seconds flat, it’s capable of just about anything you can throw at it, including taking your buddies to the country club in style. For a solid review, check out this article in Car & Driver from 2002 where they call the S2 a “rocket” with “no downside.” Just the parts from Dinan in California total over $30k, making this seem like a pretty good deal at $45,000. …Read More »
