Salt City Special: 1928 Ford Model T Salt Racer Hotrod

August 9, 2010: We’ve noticed this Salt Rod for sale once again on EBay, under the same seller. Now that we’re in the second half of summer you’ve got to wonder how eager the seller is to have this one gone. We’ve updated the links, bidding starts again at $20,000 Reserve Not Met.
March 8, 2010: The days of summer are calling and nothing is more suitable [in our dreams] than a hot rod with open pipes and an open top. We like ‘old school,’ we appreciate anything that once ran flat out on the salt flats and we love unique touches that pop out at you the more you look at an automobile. This former salt racer has all of the above and it’s on EBay for $20,000 with Reserve Not Met.
We’re not sure what it would take for the seller to part with this pickup truck turned hot rod but it’s important to note the details. There are some items like the hand made doors and top, custom fuel cell hidden under the pick up bed and the ’30′s Indy car steering wheel that are really cool touches. It’s powered by a a 1940 Flat Head V8 mated to a 3 speed trans with one of the tallest shifters imaginable.
Bottom line, this rod is cool; however, it’s a wee bit impractical so keep that in mind. Also keep in mind that, being on the salt for a part of its life, it will have more wear-n-tear than most. Find it on EBay in Highlands, North Carolina.
