If you’re going to build a Cobra replica to drive, we’d recommend looking at this one instead! 289 Kirkham’s actually cost more to build than the 427′s because they don’t make as many, this particular car is one of the Kirkham “hybrids” in that it has the 289 FIA body mounted on the 427 big-block “coil-over” frame. We think to build one like this would cost well over 6 figures but with 8,500 miles you can have this 289 FIA for $74,995.

Condition/History: Looks to be a solid driver, not a trailer queen. No real history except the seller claims it’s got around 8,500 miles since the build; seems to be one of the earliest “hybrid” Kirkham’s

What’s to like: Love the completely polished aluminum body, it’s expensive but worth it, especially on the slightly narrower 289′s. This one is done almost exactly how we’d build our own

What’s to not like: Wish it had a 5 speed instead of 4 (for highway cruising); would like some more documentation of ownership history and build, which shouldn’t be too hard to find given the Kirkham’s records

Investment Outlook: Most of the depreciation is out of this one. Buy, drive, enjoy

Where to find it: In Northern California at Kassabian Motors
