TSOL Exclusive: Thimble Drome Special built by Retro Rides by Rich
You won’t see another hot rod like this one, called the “Thimble Drome Special.” It’s a ground-up custom build, completed by Retro Rides by Rich out of North Carolina, it’s the true definition of “two seats or less” because it’s only got one! We love seeing a finished project like this; it’s a creation by someone who has followed his instincts to design something extremely unique but still beautiful. Be the talk of the cruise night for $55,000; thanks for the submission Rich!
Condition/History: Newly built round tube frame and hand formed aluminum body panels. Inspired by early Indy roadsters and 1930′s Lakesters, fresh 2.3L 4 cylinder with dual webers
What’s to like: Lots of hand-made touches, we love the louvers, hand painted pin-striping and the black contrasts (wheels, suspension parts, grille) to the red body. Oh yeah, before you criticize the 4 cylinder powerplant, please note it only weighs 1,100lbs!
What’s to not like: All the free time you’ll lose answering questions at the gas station or wherever else you take it
Investment Outlook: Probably not much upside but a custom creation like this should always hold value
