Rarely For Sale: 2001 Ultima GTR

May 27, 2010: This Ultima has reappeared for sale, this time in Georgia. Aside from an Ariel Atom this is probably the most visceral road going car you can have for under 6 digits. The new owner seems to have cleaned it up quite a bit and removed all stickers; we thought the previous asking price was in the $70k’s, it’s now $92.5k. Not sure if all that clean-up is worth the extra asking price but still, these come up for sale only so often. We’ve updated the links.
December 6, 2009: Ultima GTR’s, regardless of year, rarely come up for sale in the U.S; for more info on these cars check out their website. This one, although a 2001, has less than 6,000 miles. It’s built with very reliable parts, including a 500hp Chevrolet LS6 V8 mated to a Porsche G50 transmission. The seller claims the previous owner had $143,000 into this build, making this a relative steal at $70,000.
For an idea of what it would be like to pilot this car, check out this video of a similar car beating the Top Gear test track fastest lap:
We believe this particular car was a participant in the 2006 One Lap of America. You can check out the
One Lap of America results page where it looks like this rocket finished 6th. It wouldn’t bother us that it was driven hard and participated in competition. Ultima’s are built to drive and the LS6/G50 combo is a pretty reliable one. If we were in the market for a hardcore street/track car we’d definitely look at this Ultima.
For more info, check out the car on EBay located in Johnson City, TN.

These things are wicked! You never see them for sale here in the US, much more popular in Europe. Here’s a video of this car doing 0-100-0 in 9.4 seconds, I remember watching this years ago
