British-American Mixture: 1954 Austin Healey 100 with Ford 289 V8

Classic British looks with V8 American power; sounds like a great mixture to us [purists best look elsewhere]. This 1954 Austin Healey has been transformed with the addition of a Ford 289 cubic inch V8 and T10 four-speed. We’re OK with transplant’s like this one, as there are other ‘perfect’ Healey’s out there, probably sitting covered snugly in a garage. This one is for driving, we’re sure it’s more fun than a stock 4 cylinder, for around the similar price of $28,900.
While some folks look at this car with disdain, we scorn them and see this car as a delight. Ford V8′s are easy to work on, very reliable and powerful without being too heavy. The early Austin Healey body is a classic form, we’ve always had a thing for the folding windscreen. Couple the two and you get a fantastic looking car with better reliability and more power. Although some will be, we’re not worried about the slight addition in weight in the front end, this isn’t a track car, it’s a sunny day cruiser.
Besides the Ford V8, a bunch of the other mechanical components have been rebuilt or replaced, which should add to the reliability. Beyond that, the owner says it’s got good paint, a well kept interior and a brand new top. We’d be proud to show up to almost any car show or cruise night in this car with the faint rumble of that Ford V8 in front of us. Find it advertised for sale here in Pennsylvania.
