Sebring 12Hr Winner: 1989 Kudzu DG2.02 IMSA GTP Light

February 7, 2010: This Kudzu has been relisted here on EBay starting at $155,000 with no reserve. We thought it was priced on the high side previously and the seller must have agreed. Still love the original paint from when it ran professionally.
January 6, 2010: Obviously we’re big sports car fans and like many others, we enjoying seeing just about anything from the IMSA GTP days. This 1990 Kudzu-Buick IMSA GTP Lights contendor has been advertised on and off for some time and we’ve always found it interesting. It recently popped back up and EBay so we’re wondering if the seller is willing to accept less than his (already reduced) asking price of $189,995. Bidding starts at $75,000 with Reserve Not Met.
Although it is a somewhat less desirable GTP Lights, this car has some pretty cool history. The seller claims Randy Owens, a well known automotive artist, designed this (still all original) paint scheme as one of the very first “art cars.” Besides winning its class at the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1991 and strong finishes at other races. We’ve found a in-period photoof what we think is the car from Watkins Glen in 1992, wearing a different rear bonnet.
At the $190,000 ask, this Kudzu is priced on the high side of the market. Good news is, the seller claims he’s got $150,000 worth of spares including a fresh 4.5 Liter Hertel Engine, new gear sets, suspension and brake components, body work, wheels and more included with the sale. For more info, find the car on EBay in Highlands, North Carolina.
