Targa 66 Palm Beach

On our way back from sunny Palm Beach where we spent a few days at Brian and James Redman’s Targa Sixty Six (66) and wanted to write a small review. In short, if you’re looking for track days that aren’t too competitive but give you a LOT of track time, in a relaxed but safe environment, this is a great event. Pricing is $1,500 for three days of driving which seems expensive until you notice you can bring multiple cars with up to two drivers. So, pricing comes out to $250 per person, per day, which is very reasonable.

Groups are designated in A, B or C configuration, from fastest/most competitive on down, so there is room for about every type of car. Cars at this event varied quite a bit from fully race prepped Mitsubishi Evo’s, to two Porsche significant 962′s (962-138 and Schuppan 962CR), the Mobil 1 Aston Martin AMR-1, Audi R10, the Collier Collection’s Martini Porsche 917K, and a host of Ferrari’s, Porsche’s, Ariel Atom’s, other street cars and historic race cars. Great thing about an event like this is you get to see and experience really unique occurrences, like the Aston Martin AMR-1 chasing around an Audi R10, or seeing Brian Redman pilot a Porsche 917K again. Equally cool is being on track and running with some truly unique, important and historic cars.

Overall we’d recommend this event to anyone who isn’t looking for a race weekend and wants a lot of track time. James and Brian are truly gentlemen and are more than accommodating with almost anything you could want. Also, part of the value in the event is that Brian will often drive and/or ride in your car, if you so desire, to give you pointers; something both highly valuable and truly unique. The guys at Hudson Historics took care of us and provided us with a well prepped Porsche 911 race car, for that we’d like to say thanks.
