1996 Ruf R Turbo RS

In case anyone asks about your ‘new’ 579hp/600lbs-ft of torque Porsche, Ruf is pronounced more like ‘Roof’ than ‘Rough.’ Regardless, they’ve got a really loyal following for good reason. Given the dedicated fans, Ruf cars hold their value really well which is why, at 14 years old with over 60,000 miles, the seller is asking $79,900.

With this much power, we’re certain this car is a blast to drive, we’ve found someone who reviews a similar car and enjoys it. There’s a great thread on TeamSpeed about it with more picks.

We like this, regardless of miles, because finding anything that is a factory Ruf is difficult. This car was shipped to Germany for the conversion (probably costing some $40,000 said and done) and has some unusual options, like the Ruf CTR II center-exit exhaust and CTR upgraded suspension. Extra power comes from larger turbos and Protomotive ECU tuning.

We think this car is priced a bit on the high side of the market, even with the upgrades. That said, you couldn’t build it for near this price and of course, we’d love to own it; we think an offer in the high 60’s would be a fantastic deal. This is one of the few cars you can drive to the store or go on a run with super exotics and have it be suitable for either event. Find it on AutoTrader in Oceanside, CA.
