1961 TVR Mk2 Ex Works RF Track

This TVR Grantura may be 1 of 4 Ex-Works or Ex-Factory Lightweight TVR race cars from the early 60′s. Grantura’s were the first TVR cars, the Series II was upgraded with a choice of 4 cylinder engines and standard disc brakes. If this history can be proven, which seems potentially possible, we think this TVR could be worth more than the roughly $56,000 asking price, plus shipping from the UK and refurbishment.

As seen by the pictures, this former racer needs some real TLC. The seller claims all the parts, records, race logs and archives are intact; in fact he believes the car has just over 3,000 miles on it and much of the paint is original or ‘period.’ Furthermore it comes with period photographs and negatives as well as scrutineering badges from some of the races it competed in like Goodwood and Silverstone. Bottom line is that collectors love cars with history, this seems to be one of them.

Don’t be fooled, it will need a lot of work to bring it back to its former glory, but it may be worth it. Thankfully these cars are pretty simple and most of the stuff could likely be done by a weekend racer. For more info and contact details see the car on Car & Classic in Essex, UK.
