California Black Plate Barn Find: 1965 FERRARI 330GT 2+2 SERIES 2

Barn-find Ferrari’s are the stuff that carguy dreams are made of. We decided not to post this one the other day but now we’ve changed our minds. Said Ferrari has made its way around the internet the past few days but we know some of our readers haven’t seen it and will find it interesting. So, here it is, a 1965 Ferrari 330GT 2+2 Series II, stored for 27 years, still with the original California Black Plate. You can find this rare example in Ventura, CA bidding is up to $46,522.22 with Reserve Not Met.
We really like this car for two reasons. One, it is a single-headlight model which is much better looking than the later four headlight models. Two, we love that it’s unrestored. All-too-often we see over-restored Ferrari’s, which are lovely to look at, but they end up being museum pieces. This car, with proper maintenance, could be an amazingly fun second car; lets be honest, it’s still a Ferrari V12! You can park it anywhere and not worry about it, for all of you do-it-yourself folks, Henry Rasmussen, author of” Ferraris for the Road” said on rebuilding is his 330 GTC engine: “The complexity of the Ferrari engine is really a myth, in my opinion. It’s not all that different from working on two six-cylinder Chevrolet engines with a common crank, if you know what I mean.”
So, there you have it. Buy this Ferrari, drive it to home depot, the movies and the local coffee shop and watch as people glare confusingly. Find it on EBay in Ventura, CA.
