Track Car, Daily Driver, or In-Between: 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera

Finding a car you can drive to work and run on the track is pretty tough although we believe you can do it with this ‘85 Porsche 911. You won’t be able to take the whole family to the movies in it, nor will you run circles around every car on the race course, but living with and enjoying a dual purpose vehicle is entirely possible. This Carrera will be great for someone who can’t have a dedicated track car, for whatever reason, and doesn’t want to spend a ton of money up front. It’s bid up to $17,600 with reserve not met on EBay — we’re sure the parts and recent labor cost in that neighborhood.
We like this car because it seems to have been really well kept, plus it’s got a list of modifications too long for us to type. The chassis has about 112k on it, but the motor and trans have just been gone through and should basically be like new. As a short list, it’s got great upgraded brakes, a four point roll bar, Bilstein shocks and Weitmeister sway bars. The owner further lightened the car by adding carbon/kevlar front and rear bumpers, hood, front end and splitter. In all the pictures the car looks exceptionally clean as you look in all the nooks and jams. We like that the owner has photographed in the battery well, the spare tire area and other places on the car that tend to be ignored if there is something to hide.
Only thing we’d need to change is the steering wheel as it’s just way too modern of a look and feel for such a classic Porsche. For more info, find the car on EBay in New Port Richey, Florida.
