1965 Sunbeam Tiger Dark Blue RF

First of all, Happy Thanksgiving from Two Seats Or Less! Given it’s Thanksgiving day, we figured the most appropriately ironic thing to post is a British car with an American powerplant. Besides that, we’ve had a few people inquire about the black Mark II Tiger we posted a few weeks back. That car was very nice, but sold shortly after we posted it. So, what we’ve got here is a Mark I, which is less rare, but still a great car. The owner claims it’s one of the nicest on the planet, hence the asking price of $54,500 or offer.

To back up his claim, the seller references the fact that this car is a true Tiger that was authenticated through the Sunbeam Tiger Owners Association’s “TAC” program. It’s had an older ‘concourse’ rotisserie restoration which he says was meticulously completed. It’s also got a Ford 289 V8, which isn’t original, but probably makes it even more enjoyable to drive. Swapping out the motor was fairly common with these, since the 289 and 302 were basically a ‘drop-in’ replacement for more horsepower; we wouldn’t be too caught up in it not being numbers matching. Besides, we think the dark blue paint on this Tiger looks great and is perhaps the perfect color for this car; to us this negates anything else.

All in all, this looks like a very very nice car. If you’re a stickler for originality, the engine thing might get to you, otherwise this car looks well done. This Tiger is listed on EBay with a very nice description but it’s for sale though Classic & Collectible Cars in Las Vegas. We think the price is on the top-end of the range, but the seller says ‘offer’ right in their description and that’s exactly what we’d do.

We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday!
