Road Ready: 1934 Ford 5 Window Coupe Hotrod

November 18, 2009: This Hotrod was spotted for sale again, with a slightly lowered price of $34,000. It’d be a blast to roam through the hills of So. Cal with this winter or to put in the garage and spend some time to make it personalize to your desire, in time for spring. We’ve updated pricing and links.
October 6, 2009: This ’34 Ford is a great example of a straight forward build that comes to life the more you look at it. The seller started with an original 1934 steel body and chopped the windshield, channeled the rear panels and made all the necessary modifications to the frame. He added a ’59 Pontiac 389 V8 and mated it to a 4 speed Muncie and a 3.50 rear end with limited-slip. All of this for $34,000, seems like it could be a decent deal if you’re looking for an ‘in-period’ looking hot rod to drive and enjoy.
You may notice the interior is pretty stark but it’s got some quality items such as Stewart Warner gauges and a 4 point roll bar, making it pretty cool. We’d add some sporty yet period correct seats, maybe something like these seats for a few hundred bucks. We’d also look at different wheel options, maybe something like this from Coker Tire to really differentiate the car. Otherwise, we’d drive it like we stole it.
We like this car because it’s simple, yet uniquely interesting. We like the fact that it’s a 4 speed and not an automatic, this is a drivers car and by the pics you can tell the current owner has driven it. We also love that the car is registered with original California plates, from 1934. By the seller’s description, it seems he’s a decent guy who doesn’t appear to be hiding anything, he’s even got his phone number in an EBay ad which is pretty rare. For more info, you can find the car here on EBay in Carlsbad, CA.
