LS

Die-hard Porschephiles if you’re looking for factory original, don’t waste your time. This 911 is seriously hot rodded and is not for the faint of heart; probably the most interesting thing is the weight. The seller claims 1740lbs, wet. That number makes a Lotus Elise look heavy and a new 997 911 more like a school bus. The seller claims he’s got over 3 years into the restoration and customization of this 911 and we don’t doubt him, but cars like these rarely fetch a sum anywhere near what they cost to build. It takes a must-have buyer to pay up for this car, right now it’s on EBay at $48,000 with the Reserve not Met; even at that price it would still take a pretty motivated buyer.

We like this 911 because it’s unique and someone wasn’t afraid to make it their own. The chopped down frame-less windshield sets it apart from other convertibles immediately and the new-style clear headlights give it an updated look. We love that the seller was able to save so much weight but the fact that almost every piece in the car has metal taken out of it alarms us a little. It seems he’s made an effort to reinforce the structure with a rollbar and other braces but we’d really like to see it up close and have a race shop look at it. One thing that’s helpful is the running gear is largely new or rebuilt and fairly stock, which means it can run forever.

While this isn’t the Porsche for everyone, we think it’d look great in someone’s group of 911’s or in a unique collection. We’re sure someone with more than just one car would have a blast driving this on sunny days. For more info check out the EBay auction in Nanaimo, BC.
