Keke Rosberg Grand Prix Car: 1983 Williams FW08C

We’ve noticed another historic Formula 1 car recently popped up for sale. This former Keke Rosberg/Jacques Laffite Williams FW08C just came for sale yesterday, with the seller asking $425,000. Quite a lot of money, but do not forget, Keke Rosberg was the F1 World Champion in 1982, the year before he piloted this car. Additionally, while the FW08C chassis wasn’t dominate in ’83, it did give Williams a noteworthy win on the streets of Monaco; this car ran as high as second in that race before retiring.
This is a good site to get some history of the Williams cars, while F1 Technical has great info on the FW08C particularly. This chassis has FIA papers and the seller claims they show it ran: Brazilian GP (Laffite, 4th), Long Beach GP (Rosberg, Accident), French GP (Rosberg, T Car), San Marino GP (Laffite, 7th), Monaco GP (Laffite, Retired), Belgian GP (Laffite, 6th), Detroit GP (Laffite, 5th), Canadian GP (Laffite, Retired), British GP (Laffite, 12th), German GP (Laffite, 6th), Austrian GP (Laffite, Retired), Dutch GP (Laffite, Retired).
The seller also claims the car is fitted with a freshly built Reilly engine and 5 speed Hewland; it looks like the car ran in 1983 with a Cosworth engine mated to a Hewland 6 speed. The ad is a bit confusing though, so the Cosworth might actually be available, we’d love to know more and have sent the seller a note. Good news is its got a large number of spares including wheels, suspension pieces, electronics and body pieces including wings.
Regardless of the engine set up, we’d love to see this car run the Historic Grand Prix Series here in the States, as it seems to have recently been campaigned there. For more info, see the full ad here.
