1990 Carrera Cup Daytona Winner LR

We know what you’re thinking, this 911 doesn’t look like anything too great. You’re right, cosmetically it’s not perfect, however it’s got a really cool history. It started off as a Carrera Cup car, of which we understand Porsche only built 25. It was then commissioned to race in the 1993 Daytona 24 hours, driven by Enzo Calderari to a class win. Then it was driven by Lilian Bryner at places like the 24 hours of Le Mans, Spa and Sebring. All of this history, for $39,000.

We found a few photos of the car in original trim which is obviously different than it looks now. One of the reasons this former cup car is priced so reasonably is, in the later 90’s it was converted to 993 RSR spec, including a factory 3.8 liter 993 RSR engine. Several more attempts were made at Daytona and the car was run in 97, 98 and 99 in the IMSA series.

In our opinion, although this car isn’t currently spec’d the way it left the factory, it’s still a great deal. A Carrera Cup car, with no history, would command more money than the $39,000 ask; we’ve seen some low mileage cars asking well over $100,000. Beyond that, all of the Cup cars had VIN numbers which equals twofold greatness. One, you can verify the car and it’s history much more easily and two, you could actually street register this thing, which would probably be hilarious.

While this car isn’t perfect, and it’d need quite a bit of work to get it back to “stock,” we still love it. For more info, see the original add on Rennlist, and find this 911 located in New Hampshire.
