Daytona 24hr History: 1995 “Cannibal” IMSA WSC

November 22, 2009: After only a short time on the market, the seller dropped the price on the “Cannibal” to $59,900.
November 9, 2009: The “Cannibal” was pretty well known in the IMSA WSC series during the mid 90′s. Not for its race-winning success but for the gents at Fantasy Junction assembling a solid effort on a fraction of the budget of the big teams. This car ran the 12 hours of Sebring and finished the Daytona 24 hours 4 times, no little feat! Although a crude build compared to the competition, this car has to be the cheapest running WSC car available, at $65,900.
Given the history and the simple “uniqueness” of this car, it would be a good option for someone who wants to vintage race a high-horsepower car but doesn’t want to pay some of the associated prices. We look positively on the fact that it’s got a great spare package and comes with a lot of history/paperwork and body molds. Although it may not be the most favorable looking body, having items like molds are great, they make repairs much much cheaper. We know the guys over at Fantasy Junction had this car for sale for quite some time after they ran it, here’s the original for sale ad. We remember they lowered the price quite a few times when they advertised it and we think it was finally priced in the mid 40′s before it sold. We’d like to know what the current owner has done (besides a new seat and shifter and maybe some re-worked exhaust) to warrant the price increase.
Bottom line is, you won’t be able to run with all the WSC/GTP boys at the races, but you’ll run with some of them, including the GTP Lights and the IMSA GTO or later Trans Am cars. But, you’ll be able to do it on a budget and in an open cockpit car, which has to be a great experience. Find the Cannibal at Wire Wheel in Florida.
