Kirkham Motorsports makes some of the best Shelby Cobra reproductions in the world. If you’ve never heard of them, AutoWeek did a great article on Kirkham in 1996. Two brothers, David and Thomas Kirkham started the company, building aluminum bodies to exacting duplication out of an old MiG factory in Poland. The story is worth a look even if you’ve already read it; to give you an idea of how intelligent, thorough and methodical the Kirkham’s are, David learned to speak Polish simply because he wanted to be able to speak directly to his workmen. In other words, you’re guaranteed to get some value for the roughly $77,000 this car will cost you.

This particular car is fairly straight forward. It’s got a 1965 dated Ford 427FE “side-oiler” mated to Top loader 4 speed, seller claims 518hp & 554 ft/lbs; it should weigh around 2200lbs wet. It’s got most of the period correct bits for a 427 S/C such as correct style gauges, 15” Trigo wheels, side pipes, quick-jacks, sun visors and wind wings. We like the unpainted aluminum body and the brushed stripes, the period-style stickers give it a unique look. We don’t like the On/Off switch on the dash but we suspect removing it and recovering the dash wouldn’t be too bad if we couldn’t live with it. Notably, it’s got Kirkham’s updated and upgraded billet suspension which saves weight and adds stiffness, a desirable improvement if you plan to drive or track the car.

The previous owner has seemingly enjoying KMP357. It’s got over 6,000 miles but in all honesty, these cars are very simple and seriously reliable. Additionally, at $77,000 it’s priced below most all 427 Kirkham’s currently for sale, so this car could be a good deal for someone looking to enjoy it. Find it in Northern California at Dynamic Auto West. The price on their site is higher, but we’ve seen it advertised elsewhere for the price we’ve quoted.
