The DeTomaso Pantera is an iconic mix of Italian styling and American power. For those of you who don’t know much about them, visit the Pantera International Homepage to add to your knowledge. The seller claims this car is a GT-5, which is a more limited version, if you get the build number you should be able to cross reference it with the QV500 GT-5 page here. We think it may not be a GT-5, simply because DeTomaso wasn’t producing GT-5’s in 1972 but perhaps there is a typo in the ad; we believe they started producing GTS’s in 1973. So, it will take some homework and communication with the seller but this car may be a good deal at $45,000.

This thing is pretty wild but we like it because it’s still set up to enjoy. It has a 418ci Windsor small block making 530hp and 520ft-lbs of torque which was built 7,000 miles ago. In addition, the owner claims to have made the proper provisions to handle the extra power, such as JFZ brakes, 17″ wheels, Fluidyne radiator and 12 way adjustable coil-overs. Most of the interior has been redone and from the pictures it looks as good as new. The seller is very honest about the paint, saying it’s in nice condition for a driver but would need a respray to make the car perfect.

All in all, this car looks to be a great driver, definitely a head turner, just look at that license plate… “ENSAYNE.” If it checks out to be a true GT-5 with no stories, for $45,000, it will make someone very happy. Look around, we doubt you’ll find another one at that price. If it isn’t a GT-5, it’s still a nice looking car for a reasonable asking price. For full specs you can find this car here at 6speedonline in Minnesota, where the seller is also (interestingly) looking to trade for a 911 Turbo.
