Un-Restored Diamond in the Rough: 1966 Shelby Mustang G.T. 350

We usually like to feature cars that are ready to drive, show or race; this ‘66 Shelby G.T. 350 is a bit different in that it’s largely un-restored and can use a little TLC. But, that’s exactly why we had to post it. We recently posted another 1966 Shelby, which you can find here if you’re looking for more info about these cars generally. The Hertz cars, as most know, is the original Rent-a-Racer, there are dozens of stories of people taking these directly from the rental lot to the track. Hertz Rental commissioned about 1000 cars, most of which were black with gold stripes, this car still carries its original livery and for that reason alone, it’s an icon.
This car is a great find for someone looking for a true piece of history. The seller claims the entire drivetrain is completely original, the Shelby serial number has been confirmed by SAAC and it still retains its original wood wheel, seat belts, wheels and tach. It’s only had two owners since new and besides a bit of rust repair, it’s largely untouched. We like this car because we see so many cars that are over-restored, especially some Shelby’s, that this is really a refreshing change. We’d love to pull up to a Shelby convention in this baby and if nothing else see the look on some of the faces.
At $87,500 this Shelby still isn’t cheap, but if you believe the market for these cars is headed back up , which is may, this could be a great buy. For more info contact the seller here in Raynham Center, MA.
