Carrera RS Clone: 1973 Porsche 911T 2.4L

We have no clue when the first Porsche was painted bright green but we know whoever decided on that color scheme started a trend. If we had to propose a theory we’d bet that with the wide rear fenders (hips), low front nose and headlights sticking out like eyes, he wanted his car to look like a frog. Maybe it was Kermit The Frog, maybe not… but lets face it, you don’t see any Ferrari’s or Corvette’s in this color. The guys over at Teamspeed claim there have been 63 different shades of Porsche green, they have pictures of most. Regardless of color, this car looks to be pretty straight and may be a good deal with an asking price of $25,000, keep reading to find out all the upgrades.
If you don’t love the color, not to worry, this 911 has much more to offer. It has a freshly rebuilt top end, new clutch, upgraded oil system and suspension. Additionally, in order to track the car the owner installed an ATL fuel cell, lexan windows, Recaro seat and welded in a decent looking roll cage. We like that it’s got steel fender flairs instead of fiberglass and we love the WEVO shifter. While we’ve never driven a car with a WEVO, we’ve heard nothing but good things and everyone we’ve spoken to says they’re worth the $600+ in cost. We also like the Carrera RS inspired look and especially the 911R tail-lights, they really have an unusual look. One of the things we’d change, which shouldn’t be too difficult, is the Autometer tach which just doesn’t suit this Porsche. The 2.4L engine isn’t the best for vintage racing, if you’re trying to be super-competitive, making this car more suitable to HPDE’s, track days or the occasional vintage race.
It’s easy to see that someone put a fair amount of time and effort into this 911. For a full list of what’s been done (a lot more stuff) and a bunch more photos, find this ’73 911 on Plavan Racing’s site in California, asking $25,000.
