Untouched for 38 Years: 1960 Corvette Drag Car

We know what you’re thinking: this ’60 Corvette looks like one of those souped-up Matchbox cars you’ve seen in stores. Not quite; it’s been around way before those toy cars, this is just how cars were done in the Sixties. While this Corvette is not what we’re normally looking for, we had to post it because it’s got a certain aura of cool. To start, it was a drag car from its early days and it hasn’t been moved since 1971!
The seller claims this Corvette is very very original. Typically with “barn find” cars they aren’t in nearly as good shape as this one, which looks largely untouched. We like the period color, styling details, meaty slicks out back and enormous hood scoop that make this Vette so ugly, it’s actually pretty cool. If this car were built yesterday as a “tribute” to an old school ride, we wouldn’t be interested. However, being mostly original, with some cool drag racing history, this car is a time capsule and we’d love to own it.
That said, it doesn’t come with an engine or transmission (probably the reason it was parked in 1971) so it’s a little more work than the cars we normally feature. We feel the price, at $60K is a bit steep, but you can’t “make” more originality and we think the seller would come down from $60K. So, for a bit of money and some additional work, you’d have a car (and story) to make heads spin at your local cruise night. For more info, contact the guys at ProTeam Corvette in Napoleon, OH.
