Officially, this car is called the 2008 Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG Black Series. The name is somewhat indistinguishable, this car’s purpose not. MB took an all aluminum, 500 horsepower naturally aspirated V8, coupled it with an upgraded differential and reprogrammed 7 speed and packaged it in something modeled after their DTM race cars. They’ve lightened it with Carbon Fiber bits, taken out the back seats and totally redone the suspension and brakes. Mercedes is not typically known for driving feel, precision or excitement but thats the AMG Black’s forte. Don’t believe us? Watch the video after the jump.

Jeremy Clarkson is a rather hard to please Brit; he drives the CLK63 AMG Black Series and loves it. Might want to turn up your speakers.

If you’ve watched the video, you know why we like the Black Series. This particular car, is a good deal for someone looking for a slightly upgraded AMG at a discounted price. When this car was new two years ago, it cost $140K; now it can be had for mid 80’s. There are a few CLK63 AMG BS’s out there in that range, but white ones usually trade at a bit of a premium, because most of the 350 cars MB imported were Silver or Black. Additionally, this car has HRE M40 Monoblok wheels, which in person look absolutely great and add to the aggressive look; they also cost 6-8K for wheels and tires. We really like the suede Recaro Pole Position seats the previous owner added. They’re at least $1,500 a piece, which means this car has at least $10K in extra goodies.

We don’t like the white stripe on the wheels but it’s likely only tape. Same goes for the dark window tint, it’s just too dark for us to live with. Thankfully both should be easily removable. If you’re looking for a bad ass daily driver, with warranty left until 2011, you can find the car here on EBay in Delray Beach, Florida.
