The Bull that made Lamborghini: 1970 P400 Miura S
The Miura is often acclaimed as the car that put Lamborghini on the map. When it debuted at Turin in 1965, Lamborghini only showed the mid-engined chassis as they had not contracted with someone to build a body. The response was overwhelmingly positive as up to this point all sports cars (with the exception of some racing variants such as Ford’s GT40 and Ferrari’s 250LM) were front engine. The Miura really set the pace for mid-engined designed sports cars going forward.
Per usual, we like this car for a number of reasons. The seller claims this Miura S is a very original and correct example. We like the rare original color, called Blu Spettrale Metallizzato; it suits the car wonderfully and is unique without being over the top (as some Lamborghini colors are). The wider Miura SV wheels fill the fender-well’s nicely, giving a more aggressive look and we’d definitely keep them. This S also has air conditioning, a nice addition if you plan to drive it in warm weather and a rare option that differentiates it from a lot of other Miura S’s.
We noticed this car just popped up at Fantasy Junction in Northern California, it’s fresh in their inventory. While the car is priced on the high end of the spectrum, it looks to be a solid, no stories car with some rare options. The seller claims the current owner just got back from driving the car to the Monterey Historics and Pebble Beach Concourse weekend, we hope the new owner will similarly enjoy the car.
