Blue Lotus #2: 2006 Lotus Elise
Two Blue Loti in two days here on TSOL!
This is a very different car than the Elan we featured yesterday but they’re both inspired by the same minimalist ideals. Light weight, a high revving engine and tight suspension make this a great weekend toy and something you can happily take to some HPDE’s. The Elise was introduced in the US back in 2005 and they’ve been a very reliable and fun way to enter exotic waters. They’re quick, docile and are a great way to learn to driving with momentum at the track.
We like this car for a few reasons but the first thing that attracted us is the Polar Blue paint. We’ve only seen one other nice PB car for sale, many months ago, and it sold almost immediately. Unique colors like this look good on small cars like the Elise; reminds us of Ferrari’s ‘Azzuro California’ you occasionally see on 360 Modena’s. We also like the contrasting dark red interior but more importantly are the factory options and one-owner history. It’s loaded with Touring Pack, matching Hardtop and Soft top and the Lotus “Star Shield” aka clear paint protector. It’s also got the Sport wheel pack which may mean it has optional Sport Suspension, a valuable and sought after option worth looking into.
At $31,900 we think this car is a good value for a ’06. The dealer doesn’t have the best website, but you can see the car by contacting JES Motors in Connecticut.
