1 of 448 – 2001 Ferrari 550 Barchetta
If you want to go open top motoring in style, this is one great way to do it. Ferrari only built 448 of the 550 Barchetta, each with a 5.5L v-12 and 6 speed transmission and the reputable seller claims this one is “immaculate.”
We like this particular 550 because it’s the opportunity to get a 8 year old car, virtually new. This car has 2,000 miles from new and is finished in Rosso Barchetta which is the original Ferrari racing red. Importantly, it is a US Spec model (a lot of these cars are less desirable European Spec). One way to tell the difference is by the steering wheels; this car has the steering wheel from a 550 Maranello, the Euro versions have a one from a 360 Modena.
At $235K this car is priced above market but it’s probably one of the nicest examples in the US. The majority of the Barchetta’s came in Rosso Corsa, Ferrari’s staple color. Seeing one in this color is refreshing and it is no doubt worth a premium over the more traditional color. When shopping for any Ferrari it’s important to note its service history; this one has just been serviced so it should be ready for that trip up the coast. We’d love to let the V-12 stretch it’s legs on PCH or deep in the hills of upstate New York or Vermont.
This car would be perfect for someone who didn’t have the opportunity to buy one of these new, but wants a “new” one now. Visit Autosport Designs on Long Island for more details and tell them you saw it on TwoSeatsOrLess!
