Hotrod Vintage Racer: 1969 Datsun 510 Racecar

We love these little Datsun 510′s but it always seems to be a problem finding decent ones. Either they’ve been so raced they’re cut up beyond recognition or they are so far in the opposite direction it’s plain boring. Bidding on this one starts at $5,000, located in Quebec, Canada.

Condition/History: Seller claims race history since ’77 at tracks all over the U.S. and Canada. The car itself looks like it’s put together pretty well but certainly not a fresh restoration/build.

What’s to like: Love the BRE inspired paint scheme.

What’s to not like: In our ideal world we’d like a slightly less aggressive 510 so we could street drive it as well

Investment Outlook: Depends how much you can buy it for

Where to find it: On EBay in Quebec, Canada

Interesting Alfa: 1966 Alfa Romeo Sprint GT Coupe

This Alfa has a cool bit of history. Originally purchased in Rome, Italy the seller claims the original owner immediately modified it to mimic a GTV and turned it into a competition car, lightening it by 200lbs. We’re told work was done in Rome where the car was fitted with plexi windows and a roll cage and this Alfa resided in Germany for the next 15 years, attending races throughout Europe. Currently on EBay in Florida at $20,000 with Reserve Not Met. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Top Down Fun: 1958 Austin Healey BN6 Roadster

Weekend road trips, rally or vintage race, this Healey seems to be ready for it all. We’d love to take it on a 1000 mile tour like the Colorado Grand which is going on right now in CO, it’d be a hoot amongst all the 7 and 8 figure Ferrari’s. For a fraction of the price, this seller is accepting offers near $45,000. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Value Buy: 1988 Henna Red BMW E30 M3 w/175k miles

If you’re looking for a E30 M3 as a daily driver or one you can turn in to a track toy, this may be the car. With 175K miles it’s never going to be the perfect M3 so many lust after but you’ll likely have more fun in it than you would ever have in a show car. We think it’s priced reasonably at $11,000.

Condition/History: Looking pretty nice actually, engine compartment and interior look really well kept, a great sign on a car like this one. Henna red seems to be the original color, the exterior’s had a respray and will need some touching up to make it nice. Seller claims it passes CA smog and that he’s got 75 pages worth of receipts to go along with the car

What’s to like: Looks to be a solid car, probably a great driver that you wont have to worry too much about. In this market, we also suspect there is a bit of wiggle room in the sellers asking price

What’s to not like: A bit of rust on the A-pillars will need to be addressed at some point, may have some other issues

Investment Outlook: No short term appreciation potential but in 15-20 years all E30 M3′s could be quite valuable, even super high milers

Where to find it: In San Francisco, CA on 6spdonline

TSOL Exclusive: 1967 Mercedes Benz 250SL “Barn Find”

This Mercedes Benz 250SL is as much a “barn find” as you’ll ever find in the middle of San Francisco. It’s been sitting in the same covered parking space for the past 5 years and the owner wants it gone. It will need some work to be really nice but the owner is asking a very reasonable $15,000. Race, Rally or Ultimate Street Car: 1969 Porsche 911 “Kundensport”

This 911 would serve as a great all-arounder for someone looking to race or rally a vintage Porsche or for a true enthusiast desiring a very aggressive street car. It comes with a choice of motors (73 S or 2.5l race) and it only weighs 1830lbs due to substantial use of lightweight materials in the restoration. Yours for $80,000. We’d like to start this post by offering our apologies. Unique Vintage Racer: 1956 Lotus Eleven Le Mans

August 23, 2010: This Lotus was taken off the market during the Monterey/Pebble Beach week but we’ve noticed it’s available again. We’d still love to own it and perhaps the seller is more interested in selling now. Currently on EBay up to $63,100 with 15 bids and Reserve Not Met. We’d still love to own this one…

June 29, 2010: Looking for a car to qualify for the Monterey Motorsports Reunion right away? This one recently raced at the Sonoma Historics and has been held by the same owner for the past 30 years. It’s got a bit of a story in that it doesn’t have a chassis plate but it’s considered by most, including the Lotus Eleven Register, as original. Current bidding is up to $75,100.
